Class Description

​

Jazz: For dancers who want to concentrate on the language of jazz, technique, and begin combination work.

 

Jazz Funk: Incorporates elements of classical jazz technique combined with funky street-style hip hop movements.

 

Hip Hop:  Students will learn the latest dance moves. This funky style allows the body to move freely.

 

Hip Hop/Jazz Funk: Students will learn this funky style of dance that allows the body to move freely combined with the elements of classical jazz technique combined with funky street-style hip hop movements.

 

Twirl & Tumble: This class will be broken into learning the basics of jazz, hip hop, acro and tap. 

​

Contemporary: This class is a collection of methods developed from modern and post-modern dance combined fused with ballet and jazz dance technique.

Competitive Dance

L.A. Dance Company

​

Competitive Senior Dance Team take dance to the next level.  Dancers (ages 14 & older) may audition for L.A. Dance Company.  This team practices 3/4 times a week for 2 hrs.  The team trains in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary and technique classes.  Dancers not only learn how to dance as a team, but learn discipline, confidence and team spirit.  The dancers Compete at 3/4 local Regional Dance Competitions.  Competitive teams will also perform around the community throughout the year.  

The team practices on Tuesday 5-6:15, Wednesday 5-6 Ballet and Thursday 4:45-7 (jazz technique is from 6-7).

Additional Classes:

Monday 6-7 Hip Hop

Monday 7-8 Contemporary

Wednesday 6-6:45 Pre-Pointe/Pointe

 

Competitive Junior II Team (ages 10-up).  Dancers train in ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop.  The classes focus on basic dance technique as well as learning choreography.  The Team will help improve performance and give confidence to dancers. This team will compete at 3/4 local Regional Competitions.  

The dancers perform around the community throughout the year.

The team practices on Thursday 6:45-8:15 and Saturday 11:15-12 (jazz technique).  

Junior 2 dancers are REQUIRED to take an additional Ballet or Jazz class (this is included in tuition).

 

Choose at least one of these Classes for their additional Required Class

Tuesday 6-7:15 Combo Class

Wednesday 6:45-7:45 Ballet

Saturday 10-11:15 Combo Class

Junior Prep Team Requirements:

Working on single turns, proper jazz technique and skills, leaps and terminology.

 

Junior 1 Team Requirements :

 

Single turns, working on consistent doubles, chaine turns, grand jete, working on leap in second and knows basic knowledge of ballet, jazz and tap terminology.  

 

Junior 2 Team Requirements :

 

Double turns, chaine turns, chaine turns into leaps and pirouettes, grand jete, leap in second, working on switch leaps, working on a la seconde turns, calypso and axels and knows basic knowledge of ballet, jazz and tap terminology.  

 

Senior Team Requirements:

 

Double/triple turns, fuete and a la seconde turns, chaine turn series, axel turns and leaps/turns out of the axel, calypso, grand jete, leap in second, switch leaps, reverse grand jete, switch fronts and has knowledge of ballet, jazz and tap terminology.  Need to have a strong background of hip hop, jazz, ballet and contemporary.

L.A. Dance Class Attire

Ballet Classes need to wear: 

*Any color leotard (long, short, or tank style leotards are fine) with skirt (attached or not attached), pink tights, leg warmers are fine to wear.

*Ballet shrug or sweater can be worn in winter months (nothing baggy).  

*Pink leather ballet shoes 

*HAIR NEEDS TO BE PULLED IN A BUN, IF HAIR IS TOO SHORT PULL BACK WITH HEADBAND AND BOBBY PINS

 

Street clothes are not part of the dress code.

 

Twirl & Tumble Classes need to wear:

*Street clothes or any color leotard (long, short, or tank style leotards are fine) with skirt(attached or not attached) or hot shorts, tights are only required in the winter months (the floor gets really cold) (no underwear with tights, this will help the dancers to get used to this before Recital and other performances), leg warmers are fine to wear.

*Ballet shrug or sweater can be worn in winter months (nothing baggy).  

*Pink leather ballet shoes (not the slippers at Target) 

*HAIR NEEDS TO BE PULLED IN PONY TAIL OR BUN, IF HAIR IS TOO SHORT PULL BACK WITH HEADBAND AND BOBBY PINS

 

Jazz Classes need to wear:

*Any color leotard (long, short, or tank style leotard are fine), crop to or fitted tank, hot shorts or leggings, leg warmers are fine to wear.

*Jazz shoes or pink leather ballet shoes 

*HAIR NEEDS TO BE PULLED OFF OF FACE

Hip Hop Classes:

*Can wear street clothes with sneakers or dance sneakers (NO JEANS)

 *HAIR NEEDS TO BE PULLED IN PONY TAIL OR OFF FACE, IF HAIR IS TOO SHORT PULL BACK WITH HEADBAND AND BOBBY PINS
